Woroni is pleased to announce that nominations are open for the Board of Editors for the positions of Deputy Editor in Chief, Content Editor, News Editor, and Radio Editor.
Editors elected at this election will serve a term of one year from 21 June 2026 to 20 June 2027. Editors receive a monthly stipend of $750 (including income tax withholding and 12% superannuation).
All Editors serve on the board and have governance duties with responsibility for the whole ANU Student Media Incorporated, the publisher of Woroni.
Positions
Deputy Editor in Chief
The Deputy Editor in Chief is responsible for the governance of the Association. They must:
- Minute meetings and keep records of other matters
- Interpret and develop the Association policies, regulations, and Constitution
- Organise Board and General meetings
- Help manage elections
- Act as Editor-in-Chief when the EIC is on leave
They also have other duties under various policies and are a member of the Executive, which is responsible for day-to-day management between Board meetings.

Content Editor
The Content Editor is responsible for managing the print and literary output of the Association, and is involved in the creation of our magazine.
The current content editor is Cyan Metcalf. He can be contacted at cyan.metcalf@woroni.com.au.
News Editor
The News editor is responsible for managing the Woroni News portfolio on the Woroni website, in print, and on social media. Woroni is the longest running independent news publication in Canberra. The News Editor is a dynamic role, leading a team of dedicated reporters.

Head of Radio
The Radio Editor is responsible for Woroni Radio, the ANU’s student-run radio station. The radio editor leads a dynamic team of hosts, producers, executive producers, and tech officers, who work together to run live broadcasts, promote Canberran and ANU-based musicians and bands, and produce podcasts.

Eligibility
To nominate for an Editor position, you must:
- be a current ANU student; and
- have 3 accepted contributions to Woroni in any form (such as articles, radio shows, videos, photographs, or social media posts) at the time of your election;
How to nominate
To nominate, send the following Richelle Hilton by email to richelle.hilton@anu.edu.au:
- Your name
- Your student number
- Your current year and course of study
- The position(s) you’re candidate is nominating for;
- One example of written, videographic, photographic or multi-media work which is your original work; and
- A short biography including why you’re interested in being a Woroni Editor and the policy platform that you’re running under (total not to exceed 500 words)

- Voting commences 25 May – 9am
- Voting closes 29 May – 5pm
